Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Brands BRS as ‘BRSS’, Slams BJP and RSS
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing the opposition party of aligning with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He went as far as to label the party “BRSS”, drawing a stark parallel between BRS’s ideology and that of the RSS, particularly highlighting the BRS’s adoption of similar allegations against his government, which are typically voiced by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Speaking to media personnel on the sidelines of the inauguration of the new Congress office building in New Delhi, Revanth Reddy criticized the BRS for pursuing an agenda akin to that of the RSS, an ideological stance he described as harmful and divisive. He reiterated Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s stance on maintaining ideological distinctions from the RSS, emphasizing that the RSS had no role in the freedom struggle. The Chief Minister questioned why the RSS does not recognize or speak about India’s independence, echoing Rahul Gandhi’s assertion that Congress leaders made significant sacrifices during the British colonial rule to secure India’s freedom.
Reddy also criticized RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent comments, wherein he distanced the RSS from any involvement in the Indian freedom movement. “It’s their real ideology,” Reddy said, referring to Bhagwat’s statement that the RSS had no connection with the freedom struggle. Revanth Reddy supported Rahul Gandhi’s call for legal action against anyone who undermines the sacrifices made for India’s independence, including Bhagwat, whom he held accountable for his remarks.
Further intensifying his critique, Reddy labelled the BJP as the “Bharatiya Jhoota Party”, accusing it of propagating lies and fabricating allegations against the Congress. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify his stance—whether he aligned with Bhagwat’s views or supported the millions who died fighting for India’s freedom. The Chief Minister suggested that the BJP was attempting to divert attention from Bhagwat’s controversial comments by directing false accusations at the Congress party.
On the issue of law and order in Telangana, Revanth Reddy accused the BRS of engaging in violent activities, noting that the Congress government in the state was committed to upholding the law. He emphasized that police would take appropriate action against anyone causing disruptions or attacks, underscoring that the Congress had refrained from resorting to violence, unlike the previous BRS-led government.
At the inauguration of the new Congress office building, Revanth Reddy outlined the significance of the event, positioning it as a platform for the Congress to plan the nation’s development. He stated that the Congress, led by the vision of figures like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, had been at the forefront of creating a democratic and inclusive India. The building, he said, symbolized the party’s long-standing commitment to the welfare of the poor, marginalized communities, and the nation as a whole.
Reddy also took the opportunity to reflect on the financial challenges faced by the Congress over the years, contrasting the party’s selfless service to the nation with the more financially affluent BJP and other regional parties. He asserted that despite ruling the country for several decades, Congress’s new office was a testament to its enduring commitment to public service and national progress.
In conclusion, Revanth Reddy’s remarks underscored a robust defense of the Congress party’s legacy and principles, while fiercely critiquing the ideological stance of both the BRS and BJP.
