Hyderabad: Telangana Leaders Extend Raksha Bandhan Greetings, Highlight Women’s Empowerment
On Sunday, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Governor Jishnu Dev Varma extended their warm greetings to women across the state on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy conveyed his hope that the Rakhi festival, symbolizing the strong bond between brothers and sisters, would be celebrated with joy and enthusiasm. In his message, he emphasized the Telangana government’s commitment to women’s empowerment through several innovative schemes, including free bus travel, subsidized cooking gas cylinders at Rs 500, and free power supply up to 200 units as part of the state’s six guarantees.
Revanth Reddy assured that the government will continue to support women’s self-help societies and ensure their protection and safety. He reiterated that his administration prioritizes women’s welfare and is committed to their empowerment, emphasizing the government’s accessibility and dedication to public service with the support of women.
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma also conveyed his greetings, wishing the people of Telangana a joyful Raksha Bandhan. He highlighted the festival’s significance in celebrating the eternal bond between brothers and sisters and expressed hope that the festival strengthens this bond of togetherness. The Governor urged brothers to show affection, care, and protection towards their sisters on this auspicious occasion, underscoring the Rakhi’s symbolic role in ensuring sisters’ safety.
In a notable event, the Governor also released the book “Miles of Smiles,” authored by eminent dentist Dr. M.S. Gowd. Governor Dev Varma praised Gowd’s lifelong dedication to dentistry, describing the book as a testament to a career of excellence and a life devoted to serving others.
The book release was attended by former IAS officer K.V. Ramana Chary, family members of M.S. Gowd, and senior officials from Raj Bhavan.
