Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy Addresses Journalists’ Housing Needs and Critiques Modern Media Practices
Hyderabad: On Sunday, September 8, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy highlighted the government’s commitment to tackling challenges faced by journalists, particularly focusing on housing, during the land allotment programme for the Jawaharlal Nehru Journalists MAC Housing Society at Ravindra Bharathi.
In his address, CM Reddy lauded journalists for their indispensable role in society, drawing a parallel between their work and that of doctors who diagnose societal issues. He acknowledged the initiative’s roots with former Chief Minister YS Rajashekhara Reddy and assured that his administration has now delivered a permanent solution to this long-standing concern.
Despite this positive development, Reddy expressed apprehensions about the current state of journalism, criticizing certain media outlets for prioritizing sensationalism and false propaganda over responsible reporting. He called on professional journalists to help restore the integrity of their field.
The Chief Minister also pledged support for genuine reporters, condemning some publications for deteriorating journalistic standards through objectionable language and politically charged attacks, including those targeting his office. He urged journalists to exercise self-restraint and maintain ethical practices in their reporting.
Overall, CM Reddy’s remarks reflect both a commitment to improving conditions for journalists and a call for a return to responsible and ethical journalism.
