Hyderabad: TFDA to Celebrate Director’s Day with Notable Filmmakers and Chief Minister
The Telugu Film Directors’ Association (TFDA) is set to host a grand celebration of Director’s Day on May 19, 2024. In anticipation of the event, esteemed filmmakers such as Ram Gopal Varma, Anil Ravipudi, and Harish Shankar met with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at his residence in Hyderabad on Friday.
The delegation from the Telugu film industry extended an invitation to the Chief Minister to attend the special program commemorating Directors’ Day.
During their meeting, the filmmakers also took the opportunity to present the Chief Minister with a bouquet of flowers and pose for photographs.
The celebration, scheduled to be held at LB Stadium in Hyderabad, will feature a star-studded lineup honoring the late filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao for his significant contributions to Indian cinema. Prominent actors including Chiranjeevi, Prabhas, and Allu Arjun are expected to grace the event with their presence.
It has been reported that Prabhas made a substantial donation to the Telugu Film Directors Association in support of the Director’s Day celebrations.
Dasari Narayana Rao was a multifaceted artist, serving as a film director, producer, screenwriter, actor, lyricist, and politician. He predominantly worked in Telugu cinema, with notable contributions to Hindi cinema as well. His films often addressed themes of social injustice, corruption, and gender discrimination. Dasari Narayana Rao directed 150 Telugu movies and holds the Limca World Record for directing the highest number of films globally.
He began his directorial career in the early 1970s and received numerous accolades, including the National Award, Filmfare Awards, and honors from the Andhra Pradesh government. Dasari Narayana Rao passed away on May 30, 2017, at the age of 75.
