Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Calls for Revamping University Standards
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday, November 2, expressed concern over the declining reputation of state universities and emphasized the urgent need to enhance their reliability. During a meeting with newly appointed vice-chancellors, he noted that “systems have collapsed” within the universities and called for a comprehensive assessment of their current conditions.
Reddy urged the vice-chancellors to consider hiring consultancies to prepare detailed reports on university operations. He reassured them that their appointments were made without external influence and based on merit and social equity.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of addressing issues related to drug and ganja trafficking in universities. He stressed the need for vigilance over student activities and the provision of counseling services to foster a supportive environment.
“We will not hesitate to take stringent action if any issues arise,” Reddy warned, asserting that the government is committed to supporting vice-chancellors in their efforts to improve university standards.
The appointments of the new vice-chancellors, including one for Telangana University in Nizamabad, were recently approved by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma, following the previous vice-chancellor’s arrest for corruption by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
