Telangana Sets Ambitious Green Energy Goal of 40,000 MW by 2035
Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has announced the state’s ambitious goal to generate 40,000 megawatts (MW) of green energy by 2035. Speaking at the 4th World Green Power Investors’ Conference and Exhibition, Vikramarka, who also oversees the Energy portfolio, outlined Telangana’s strategic plans to boost green energy production and attract investment.
Vikramarka highlighted several key initiatives, including the development of an Artificial Intelligence city and the revitalization of the Musi riverfront project. These projects are set to play a crucial role in enhancing the state’s green power infrastructure. Additionally, plans are underway to connect the Regional Ring Road (RRR) with major industrial corridors, further supporting green energy development.
“The Telangana government is committed to expanding its renewable energy capacity, leveraging abundant resources, skilled labor, and business-friendly policies such as TS-IPASS,” Vikramarka stated. He emphasized that renewable energy is vital for economic growth and social prosperity in today’s rapidly evolving world.
India aims to generate 500 gigawatts of green energy, and Telangana is poised to make a significant contribution through its dynamic economy and burgeoning industries, including IT and pharmaceuticals. The state is already recognized among the top eight in India for its strong wind resources, with an estimated wind capacity of approximately 54 gigawatts at a height of 150 meters.
The Telangana government is also finalizing a comprehensive Green Power Energy Policy to promote the development of sustainable and reliable green energy projects. Vikramarka invited investors and innovators to collaborate with the state in achieving the objectives of its Green Power Mission.
“Let us work together to create a sustainable future through green energy, benefiting not only Telangana but the entire nation and humanity,” he concluded.
