Telangana Credits ₹2,349 Crore to Farmers Under Rythu Bharosa Scheme

In a significant boost to the agricultural sector, the Government of Telangana on Monday credited ₹2,349 crore directly into the bank accounts of farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, its flagship investment support initiative.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy formally released the funds, benefiting over 41.25 lakh farmers across the state. He also announced that a total of ₹9,000 crore will be disbursed over a nine-day period as part of the current instalment cycle.

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao confirmed that, on day one, financial aid was transferred to farmers owning up to two acres of land, covering approximately 39.16 lakh acres.

Under Rythu Bharosa, each farmer receives ₹12,000 per acre annually, disbursed in two instalments—one for each crop season. This new initiative, launched in January 2025, replaces the Rythu Bandhu scheme of the previous BRS government, which had offered ₹10,000 per acre annually. Speaking at the Rythu Nestham programme held in Rajendranagar, CM Revanth Reddy reiterated the government’s deep commitment to farmers’ welfare.

“No government can be formed without the support of our farmers,” he stated, adding that the Congress government had spent ₹1 lakh crore on farmer welfare within just 18 months of taking office. Taking a swipe at the opposition BRS party, the Chief Minister accused former leaders of misgovernance and financial mismanagement.

“The previous government left Telangana with a crippling debt of ₹8.20 lakh crore. They had ten years and did nothing, and now they are resorting to street theatre,” he remarked.

Revanth Reddy warned that the state’s economic recovery could take a century due to the alleged fiscal missteps of the BRS regime. He pointed out that the current administration inherited a situation where even fee reimbursement dues and farm loan waivers were on hold due to empty coffers.

Despite the challenges, he asserted that his government had stabilised the economy and launched multiple schemes aimed at empowering farmers and restoring trust in governance.
