Telangana Sets New Peak Electricity Demand Record for FY 2024-25
Telangana’s power distribution companies (DISCOMs) have achieved a new peak in electricity demand and supply, reaching 15,573 Mega Watts (MW) at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday. This figure marks the highest peak demand observed for the financial year 2024-25 to date.
In comparison, the peak demand and supply on the same day for the fiscal year 2023-24 was 14,816 MW. Earlier in the year, on March 14, 2024, Telangana had reached an all-time peak of 15,623 MW.
A statement from the Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited indicated that the DISCOMs are well-prepared to accommodate an anticipated increase in demand, which could rise to up to 17,000 MW during the peak Kharif season. This preparedness is aimed at ensuring robust support for the state’s agricultural sector during this critical period.
