Hyderabad: The Election Commission has enforced a 48-hour ban on BRS leader K. Chandrashekar Rao from campaigning due to objectionable remarks made against the Congress party.
The EC stated that Rao’s comments, made during a press conference in Sircilla on April 5, violated the provisions outlined in the model code of conduct and its advisories.
The ban on the former Chief Minister of Telangana will be effective from 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Following Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, Rao becomes the second politician to face a 48-hour ban from campaigning during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
