Telangana Government Forms Committee to Address Paddy Procurement Issues
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has established a four-member cabinet sub-committee to thoroughly examine various aspects of paddy procurement, led by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka. The committee also comprises Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, and IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu.
This initiative aims to address critical issues surrounding paddy procurement, including the hiring of storage facilities (godowns), securing bank guarantees from rice millers who have previously failed to return milled rice to the government, determining appropriate milling charges, and managing the drying process for wet or moisture-laden paddy.
Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari has directed the committee to submit its findings to the state government as soon as possible, emphasizing the urgency of resolving these procurement challenges.
