Telangana Government Considers Welfare Board for MeeSeva Operators, Aims for Job Stability
The Telangana government is actively exploring the creation of a welfare board to support MeeSeva operators and working towards securing permanent employment for staff at the state’s 4,754 MeeSeva centers. This announcement was made by Information Technology Minister D. Sridhar Babu during the 14th annual function for MeeSeva operators, held recently in the city.
MeeSeva, the state’s flagship online service initiative, was launched in 2011 to streamline access to government services. It allows citizens to access various services without having to visit local mandal or district offices, significantly reducing bureaucratic hurdles. Minister Sridhar Babu commended the service for its role in enhancing accessibility and promised to expand the scope of services provided under MeeSeva in the near future.
Addressing the gathering, Sridhar Babu reaffirmed the Telangana government’s commitment to fulfilling all promises made in the Congress party’s election manifesto, particularly the “6 Guarantees”. These guarantees, he noted, would be implemented in phases to ensure broad and lasting benefits for the citizens of Telangana.
One of the major issues raised at the event was the working conditions of MeeSeva operators and staff. The government is considering the establishment of a welfare board that would provide better support for these service providers, many of whom work under contractual terms. Additionally, the government is looking into ways to secure permanent employment for the 4,754 staff members working at MeeSeva centers across the state, offering greater job security and stability.
Minister Sridhar Babu also took the opportunity to critique the ruling BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) party’s governance over the past decade, accusing the party of leaving Telangana with high levels of debt. However, he assured the audience that under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the state is now on the path to financial stability and progress.
“Telangana is moving towards a future of growth and development,” Sridhar Babu said, urging citizens not to be swayed by opposition propaganda but to trust the government’s vision for the state.
The Minister also encouraged MeeSeva operators to continue serving the public with dedication and compassion, acknowledging their pivotal role in improving access to essential government services. The government’s welfare board proposal and plans to secure permanent roles for MeeSeva staff are expected to be implemented soon, in line with the government’s broader vision of enhancing public service delivery.
The event was also attended by several key figures, including Telangana Technology Corporation President M. Satish, MeeSeva Commissioner Ravi Karan, and prominent MeeSeva community representatives such as Shankar, Abdul Mohammad, Balaraju, and Shekhar Reddy.
With these commitments, the Telangana government is poised to make significant strides in improving the welfare of MeeSeva operators, further strengthening the state’s commitment to public service efficiency and employee stability.
