Title: Candidates Protest Rescheduling of Group-I Mains Exams in Hyderabad
On the night of October 16, candidates preparing for the Group-I mains exams, scheduled to begin on October 21, took to the streets in Ashok Nagar to voice their concerns. The protest was sparked by demands for the state government to address issues related to the exam’s administration, including errors in the answer key for the Group-I prelims and the need to amend GO 29.
As tensions escalated, police apprehended several protestors, who were subsequently taken to the Chikkadpally police station. The candidates argued that unless the discrepancies in the answer key were rectified and the government order amended, it would be pointless for them to sit for the upcoming mains exam.
Most of the protestors were in their twenties and early thirties, highlighting a younger demographic among those affected by the ongoing issues. Many candidates have expressed frustration over the prolonged delay in filling Group-I posts, which have remained vacant for nearly a decade due to various court cases and administrative challenges.
The situation reflects the growing impatience among aspirants who feel that their opportunities are being jeopardized by bureaucratic hurdles. As the protests continue, the candidates are calling for urgent action from the government to ensure a fair and transparent examination process.
