Hyderabad: Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha has issued a stern warning to Food Business Operators (FBOs) regarding the sale of contaminated and adulterated foods, emphasizing that strict action will be taken against those who fail to comply with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulations and other food safety norms.
During a meeting held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Tuesday, convened by the Commissioner of Food Safety, representatives from various associations within the hotel, restaurant, dairy, and food industries were instructed to uphold high standards in the production, distribution, storage, and preparation of food items.
Addressing the FBOs, the minister highlighted the State government’s efforts to position Hyderabad as the ‘Food Capital of India’ and a ‘Medical Tourism Hub.’ He underscored the importance of social responsibility among hoteliers and the need to provide quality food to consumers to achieve this goal.
The minister also directed authorities to conduct state-wide workshops every six months to raise awareness and provide training to various stakeholders. He assured that the food safety department would rigorously enforce the FSSAI Act and regulations.
The associations pledged their cooperation with the authorities to ensure the provision of clean and healthy food across the state. They also agreed to collaborate on conducting awareness programs, training sessions, and workshops.
