Telangana Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu Criticizes Opposition to State’s Social Comprehensive Household Survey
Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, has strongly criticized growing concerns among leaders from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the state’s new Social Comprehensive Household Survey. On Friday, he issued a stern warning against any attempts to block or spread misinformation about the survey, emphasizing its importance in shaping fair and inclusive policies for the state’s disadvantaged communities.
In response to the criticism from BRS leaders questioning the necessity of the survey, Sridhar Babu clarified that the new survey was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of Telangana’s social, economic, educational, and caste-related data. He pointed out that while previous data, collected by past governments, served different purposes, this new survey aims to deliver a complete and accurate picture, which is essential for crafting policies that directly address the needs of marginalized communities.
Sridhar Babu accused the BRS and BJP leaders of resisting efforts to support the state’s disadvantaged groups, suggesting that their opposition to the survey reflects a reluctance to fully embrace social equity. He also highlighted the delay in the national census, which has been pending since 2021 under the BJP-led central government, further underscoring the necessity of Telangana’s survey to meet the pressing needs of underserved populations in the state.
“The survey is critical for ensuring that backward classes (BC), scheduled castes (SC), and scheduled tribes (ST) are properly represented and that their concerns are addressed through government policies,” Sridhar Babu remarked. He challenged both BRS and BJP leaders to explain their objections to a survey aimed at benefiting the most vulnerable sections of society.
The minister urged the people of Telangana to actively support the initiative, encouraging citizens to cooperate with enumerators and participate in the survey. He reiterated that the data collected will play a pivotal role in promoting social fairness and ensuring that all eligible individuals in the state receive the benefits and opportunities they are entitled to.
As the survey progresses, Sridhar Babu’s remarks underscore the government’s commitment to providing a more accurate and inclusive data framework, despite resistance from certain political quarters. The survey is seen as a crucial tool for addressing socio-economic disparities and promoting equitable development in Telangana.
