Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy Distributes Financial Assistance to Civil Services Aspirants

Hyderabad: On Monday, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy awarded financial assistance of ₹1 lakh each to 135 Civil Services Preliminary examination qualifiers preparing for the Mains. The cheques were distributed under the Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhayahsatam programme at the Secretariat.

Addressing the recipients, Revanth Reddy encouraged the aspirants to approach their exams with unwavering focus, likening their determination to Arjuna’s precise aim at the fish’s eye. He urged them to overcome family and financial hurdles with resilience.

Reflecting on the Telangana movement, Reddy highlighted unemployment as a major issue that spurred the quest for statehood. He praised the Congress government for addressing this by filling 30,000 vacancies within 90 days of assuming power and announcing plans for an additional 35,000 positions through various notifications.

Criticizing the previous administration, Reddy condemned the neglect of the education sector, noting inadequate hostel facilities provided in rented buildings. In contrast, he outlined the Congress government’s initiative to construct new hostels for BC, SC, ST, and minority students across 100 Assembly constituencies, allocating ₹5,000 crore for Integrated Residential Schools.

Reddy also voiced concerns about the current education system’s focus on certification over practical skills, citing a mismatch between graduates’ qualifications and industry requirements. To address this, the Young India Skill University has been established, with industrialist Anand Mahindra as Chairman and Srinivasa Raju as Vice-Chairman. The university will offer skill-based training and diploma courses, aiming to train 2,000 students this year and expand to 20,000 students annually.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the university’s board will finalize the curriculum and manage training, with the state government facilitating this endeavor. The initiative aims to bridge the skills gap and enhance employability among the youth.
