Telangana Signs Major MoU with JSW for Unmanned Aerial Systems Manufacturing
At the prestigious World Economic Forum Summit in Davos, the Telangana government has made significant strides in strengthening its position as a hub for technology and innovation. In line with its ongoing efforts to attract global investment, Telangana has entered into multiple agreements with leading companies across various sectors. One of the standout developments is the announcement of a collaboration between JSW and the Telangana government for the establishment of a manufacturing unit for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in the state.
This initiative, supported by a U.S.-based defense technology company, will see an investment of ₹800 crore and is expected to generate approximately 200 job opportunities for the local workforce. The manufacturing unit aims to bolster India’s capabilities in drone technology, with a particular focus on advancements in the defense sector.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed confidence that this collaboration would establish Telangana as a key player in the drone technology industry. He noted that this project would not only strengthen the state’s technological infrastructure but also contribute significantly to the nation’s defense capabilities.
Minister Sridhar Babu also highlighted the strategic importance of the project, emphasizing that the incorporation of cutting-edge technology would drive growth in the defense industry and support the overall development of Telangana. The agreement with JSW is expected to be a pivotal step in enhancing Telangana’s standing in the global aerospace and defense markets.
