Telangana Plans Skill University in Hyderabad to Train 20,000 Youth Annually
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government announced plans to establish the Telangana Skill University in Hyderabad, aimed at training 20,000 youth annually through a public-private partnership model. The university, set to offer 17 courses initially, will focus on sectors crucial to the state’s economic growth, including pharma, construction, banking, e-commerce, and more.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy emphasized the government’s commitment to providing industry-relevant skills to students, ensuring their readiness for employment. The proposed university will operate on a non-profit but self-sustaining model, with courses ranging from 3-4 years for degree programs to shorter diplomas and certificates.
The initiative, expected to be supported by leading companies in each sector through sponsorship of courses, aims to enhance youth employability and meet future industry demands. Plans include establishing the main campus in Hyderabad and satellite campuses across district headquarters, with a bill slated for introduction in the upcoming Assembly session to formalize the university’s establishment.
