Telangana to Celebrate First Anniversary of ‘People’s Government’ with Praja Vijayotsavam on November 14
Hyderabad: Telangana is set to mark the first anniversary of its “People’s Government” with the launch of the Praja Vijayotsavam, or People’s Governance Victory Festival, on November 14 in Hyderabad. The event will coincide with Children’s Day and the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and will focus on celebrating the achievements of the state government over the past year, particularly in the education sector.
The inaugural ceremony will take place at LB Stadium and is expected to be attended by approximately 14,000 school students. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) will kick off the celebrations with a special Education Day event, which will highlight the government’s initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education across the state.
Key achievements to be showcased include:
- Increased diet allowances for students,
- Upgraded school infrastructure across Telangana,
- The establishment of home-based grading systems,
- The provision of free electricity for government schools.
The event’s organizational preparations were finalized in a meeting at the Secretariat on Monday, chaired by Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, with the participation of senior state officials, including Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Chief Secretaries Sridhar and Burra Venkatesham, and Secretary Sarath.
Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari noted that the Praja Vijayotsavam would be a month-long celebration, running from November 14 to December 9, with large-scale public gatherings and activities across the state. On the opening day, the Chief Minister will interact with students from government and Gurukula schools.
Highlights of the festival will include a student-led “Model Assembly” cultural program, an audio-visual presentation showcasing developments in the education sector, and the release of a commemorative souvenir. Students from each district will participate in the celebrations, with special arrangements made for weather protection, continuous power supply, and adequate facilities to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
The Praja Vijayotsavam marks a key milestone for the Telangana government, reflecting on its commitment to improving public services, especially in education, and reinforcing the state’s emphasis on people-centric governance.
