Telangana to Revise School Textbooks to Align with NCF 2023
Hyderabad: The Telangana Education Department is gearing up to revise school textbooks in accordance with the Central Government’s National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023. The revision process will be led by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), part of the School Education Department.
The initial focus will be on non-language subjects, with Mathematics, Science, and Social Science textbooks set to be updated first. Language textbooks for Telugu, Hindi, Urdu, and English will follow at a later stage.
To ensure a comprehensive and effective revision, subject-specific expert committees will be established. These committees will consist of senior professors and experienced teachers, bringing their expertise to the process.
Under the new framework, the revised Social Science curriculum will incorporate a diverse content distribution: 20% local content, 30% regional content, 30% national content, and 20% international content. This approach emphasizes the holistic development of students.
Additionally, if the framework is fully implemented, Class X and XII exams will be conducted twice within an academic year, potentially enhancing assessment and learning outcomes for students.
