Hyderabad: Telangana Sees Surge in Young Voters as CEO Announces New Registrations
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sudarshan Reddy has announced the addition of 473,838 new young voters, contributing to a total of approximately 800,000 new registrations in the state. With these new additions, the overall voter count in Telangana has reached 33,426,323.
Voter Demographics and Registration Drive
The updated figures reveal that among the registered voters, there are 16,616,446 male voters, 16,807,100 female voters, and 2,777 voters identifying as third-gender. These statistics were disclosed during a meeting at the CEO’s office in BRK Bhavan on November 2.
Reddy confirmed that the final voter list is scheduled for publication on January 6. To facilitate the registration process, a special statewide drive is planned for November 9 and 10, aimed particularly at rural farmers and youth who have requested enhanced voter registration opportunities.
During this two-day initiative, booth-level officers will be available in all constituencies from 10 AM to 5:30 PM to assist prospective voters. Individuals can register either in person at these booths or through the official CEO website.
Addressing Concerns and Ensuring Integrity
The CEO also highlighted that any objections to the voter list will be accepted until November 28. Citizens can express their concerns through official social media channels or by calling the toll-free number 1950 for assistance.
In a related update, Reddy reported that 414,165 duplicate votes have been removed from the electoral rolls following a comprehensive review process. This effort underscores the state’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of its voter registration system.
The proactive measures taken by the CEO’s office aim to ensure greater participation in the electoral process, particularly among young and first-time voters in Telangana.
