“Thalliki Vandanam” Launched: AP Government Transfers ₹8,745 Cr to Mothers in Landmark Welfare Push

In a powerful nod to its electoral commitment, the Andhra Pradesh coalition government led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has officially rolled out the “Thalliki Vandanam” scheme — a major welfare initiative designed to empower mothers and support students’ education across the state.

Timed to coincide with the government’s first anniversary in office, the scheme will go live on June 12, with a staggering ₹8,745 crore being directly credited to the bank accounts of over 67.27 lakh mothers. The financial aid is tied to educational support for their children, fulfilling one of the flagship promises under the “Super Six” agenda laid out by the coalition during the elections.

Supporting Mothers, Fueling Education

The scheme targets every mother with a child pursuing formal education — from newly enrolled Class 1 students to those entering Intermediate first year. Government officials clarified that for fresh admissions in the current academic year, funds will be disbursed post-verification of admission details.

“This initiative reflects our deep respect for mothers and our belief that education is the true foundation of empowerment,” said a senior official, highlighting the scale and impact of the program. The state government issued a detailed Government Order (GO) on Wednesday, outlining the procedures and eligibility framework for seamless implementation.

“Super Six” Momentum Builds

The launch of “Thalliki Vandanam” follows the swift activation of other promises under the government’s “Super Six” charter. These include:

  • Enhanced pensions for the elderly and differently-abled
  • Revival of the Anna Canteens to provide affordable meals
  • Announcement of a Mega DSC recruitment drive for teachers
  • Deepam-2 scheme for the free distribution of LPG cylinders to women

With each rollout, the administration is steadily turning its campaign pledges into action, reinforcing public trust and political credibility.

A Promise Fulfilled, A Vision Reinforced

By choosing to launch “Thalliki Vandanam” on the anniversary of its electoral win, the Naidu-led government is sending a clear message: welfare with accountability, and governance with intent. The scheme not only serves as a financial lifeline for families but also positions education at the core of the state’s developmental narrative.
