Tilak Varma Breaks Virat Kohli’s Record in Match-Winning Performance Against England
Telugu cricketer Tilak Varma delivered a scintillating performance in the second T20I against England in Chennai, leading India to a thrilling victory with a match-winning knock of 72* off 55 balls. The chase was set at 166, and India reached the target with four balls to spare, largely due to Tilak’s composed and powerful innings.
Not only did his stellar performance guide India to a crucial win, but Tilak also set a remarkable record by surpassing Virat Kohli’s previous record for most runs in four consecutive T20 innings. Tilak now holds the record for scoring 318 runs in his last four innings, breaking Kohli’s record of 258 runs. Sanju Samson comes in third with 257 runs in four successive innings.
Tilak’s previous T20 innings include two unbeaten centuries—107* and 120*—against South Africa, and his recent scores of 19 and 72* against England. His consistent performance has earned him significant recognition, making him the first Indian cricketer to score over 300 runs across four consecutive T20 innings.
Thanks to his heroics, India has taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match series, with the third T20 set to be played in Rajkot on Tuesday.
