Tragic Stampede at Tirupati: Six Devotees Dead, CM Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan Respond
A devastating stampede at the Vaikuntha Dwara darshan ticket issuing center in Tirupati has resulted in the loss of six lives and left many others injured. The tragic incident unfolded when a large crowd, waiting to collect darshan tokens, surged forward after the gates were opened to assist an ailing individual. The chaos ensued late last night at Bairagipatteda, near Tirupati, when the person felt unwell, prompting the authorities to allow medical aid, which inadvertently triggered the stampede.
Upon hearing about the tragedy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu immediately visited the site, expressing strong dissatisfaction with the administrative response of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer and other officials. He raised concerns over the efficiency of crowd management systems and questioned the preparedness of the administration in handling such a large number of devotees.
In the aftermath of the tragic event, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who was in Vijayawada, promptly departed for Tirupati to personally assess the situation. Pawan Kalyan is expected to inspect the area where the stampede took place and visit the injured devotees receiving treatment at local hospitals.
The incident has raised serious concerns about crowd control measures at religious sites, especially during peak times, and calls for an in-depth investigation into the matter. Authorities are taking swift action to ensure better safety protocols in the future.
