Global star Jr NTR’s latest movie “Devara” is getting ready at a brisk pace as the Visual Effects works of the movie are going on to meet the release deadline. Set for October 10th release, the movie is locking its theatrical distribution partners already with Karan Johar releasing the movie in Northern circuits. So what about the Telugu states then?
According to the grapevine, two top Telugu producers, Dil Raju and Mythri Movie Makers, are said to be trying their best to grab the theatrical release rights of the movie. Previously Dil Raju used to focus on acquiring Nizam rights along with Vizag territory, but these days, he’s buying the total theatrical rights for all regions in Telugu states, when it comes to big movies. Even Mythri is trying to do the same as they want to release the film in the two Telugu states themselves rather than taking stake only for certain areas. We are also hearing reports that Sithara Entertainment’s Naga Vamsi is also in the race to bag the rights, and he is close to sealing the deal too.
With competition for the rights growing up, as some other players like Asian-Suresh Babu and others jumped into the scene as per reports, the makers of Devara are said to be asking for nearly ₹120 crores to sell the theatrical rights. And to recover that investment, in case someone buys at that price, the film needs to mint nearly ₹200+ crores from the box office.
Directed by Koratala Siva, Devara has Jr NTR playing the titular role while Janhvi Kapoor is the female lead and Saif Ali Khan is the antagonist.
