TTD to Accept Recommendation Letters from Telangana Public Representatives for Darshan
In a significant move, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to allow recommendation letters from public representatives in Telangana for devotees seeking darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala. This decision will permit such letters twice a week, following a period of debate and criticism over the non-acceptance of recommendations from Telangana leaders.
The issue had sparked a wave of dissatisfaction among political leaders, including Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister Srinivas Goud, as well as Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from the ruling Congress party. Minister Konda Surekha had expressed concerns earlier, accusing authorities of unfairly restricting access to darshan privileges for Telangana devotees.
Responding to these concerns, the TTD revisited the matter and, after extensive deliberations, a majority of board members endorsed the decision to accept recommendation letters. This new policy will allow public representatives from Telangana to recommend devotees for darshan twice a week, a change that is expected to ease the process for many devotees from the state.
While the official announcement from TTD is still awaited, the move aims to address the grievances raised by Telangana leaders and ensure equitable access to the revered temple for all devotees.
