Certainly, it has been previously disclosed that Mumbai-based actress Kavya Thapar, recognized for her roles in films such as “Ek Mini Katha” and the recent “Ooru Peru Bhairavakona” in Telugu cinema, has been cast as the lead actress in Puri Jagan and Ram Pothineni’s forthcoming film, “Double Ismart,” a continuation of the Ismart Shankar persona. However, upon witnessing her portrayal in the movie’s trailer, many were evidently taken aback. The reason for this astonishment remains a subject of speculation.
At the onset of “Double Ismart,” rumors surfaced suggesting that Puri Jagan had traveled to Mumbai with intentions to enlist a Bollywood actress as the film’s heroine. Names such as Sara Ali Khan and other emerging Bollywood talents were purportedly considered at that time. However, subsequent to these initial discussions, there was a conspicuous absence of any discourse surrounding the female lead, with the filmmakers opting to maintain secrecy regarding her identity.
Despite Kavya Thapar herself divulging her involvement during the promotional activities for “Bhairavakona,” the team behind “Double Ismart” refrained from providing any official statement on the matter. Consequently, when Kavya was eventually unveiled in the teaser recently, questions arose regarding the prolonged secrecy surrounding her casting, which seemed to lack the anticipated impact on audiences.
In contrast, Puri Jagan has a track record of introducing fresh talents, with discoveries such as Rakshitha and Anushka becoming notable successes under his guidance. Consequently, many have questioned the rationale behind his decision to cast Kavya Thapar when the option to introduce a new face or even secure a prominent Bollywood star remained available.
