Upasana Kamineni Cancels Iceland Trip in Protest Against Whale Hunting
Global star Ram Charan’s wife, Upasana Kamineni Konidela, is known for her entrepreneurial success and philanthropic initiatives. Recently, she made headlines not for her professional endeavors, but for her bold environmental stand.
Upasana had planned a trip to Iceland but decided to cancel it after being deeply moved by a post from Seaspiracy, a campaign against whale hunting. The post revealed that Iceland had renewed whaling licenses, permitting the hunting of over 2,000 whales, including endangered fin whales. It also highlighted a petition signed by 36 Members of the European Parliament urging Iceland to revoke these licenses in favor of a permanent ban on commercial whaling. The letter emphasized the crucial role whales play in combating climate change by sequestering CO2.
In a statement on her Instagram story, Upasana shared her decision to cancel the trip, expressing her strong opposition to the cruel practice. Her action has been widely supported by her followers, who have praised her commitment to environmental protection.
While Upasana takes a stand for marine conservation, her husband, Ram Charan, continues to create buzz with the upcoming release of Game Changer on January 10, marking a significant milestone in both their personal and professional lives.
