US Intelligence Briefs Trump on Alleged Iranian Threats Amid Assassination Attempts
Washington: Former President Donald Trump has been briefed by U.S. intelligence agencies regarding a “real and specific” threat to his life, allegedly stemming from Iran. According to Trump’s campaign, the briefing emphasized an effort by Iran to “sow chaos” within the United States.
This alarming development follows two reported assassination attempts on the 78-year-old Republican presidential candidate within a two-month span. Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign communications director, stated, “President Trump was briefed earlier today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence regarding real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him.”
Intelligence officials have highlighted a pattern of “continued and coordinated” attacks, which have reportedly intensified in recent months. Law enforcement agencies are collaborating to ensure Trump’s safety and to maintain the integrity of the upcoming presidential election in November.
The first assassination attempt occurred on July 13 during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bullet narrowly missed Trump. The second attempt was on September 15 at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was charged on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate after being found with a firearm outside the golf course.
Cheung further remarked, “Make no mistake, the terror regime in Iran loves the weakness of Kamala Harris and is terrified of the strength and resolve of President Trump.” He assured that Trump remains determined to fight for the American people and pursue his agenda of making America great again.
The presidential election is set for November 5, where Trump is expected to face off against Democratic Party candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris.
