Vallabhaneni Vamsi’s Legal Troubles Continue: Court Extends Remand, Denies Additional Custody Request
Former MLA and senior YSRCP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi faced a day of legal setbacks and partial reprieve as the Nuzvid Court delivered mixed verdicts in the fake housing patta case.
The court rejected a plea by Hanuman Junction Police requesting a second round of custody for Vamsi, citing that he had already been interrogated for two days during the initial custody. Police argued that the earlier questioning had been hampered by Vamsi’s health issues, but the court found no compelling reason to permit further detention for investigation.
However, with the initial remand period ending today, Vamsi was produced virtually before the magistrate, who decided to extend his judicial custody until June 12. Formal orders have been issued in this regard.
Amid these developments, Vamsi filed a separate petition seeking medical treatment at a private hospital, citing health complications. The court has asked the police to file a counter to the request and adjourned the hearing to June 2 for further deliberation.
Linked Arrest in Illegal Mining Case
In a related case, the court granted two-day police custody for Olupalli Mohan Ranga, a close associate of Vamsi, in connection with an illegal mining investigation. Ranga was transferred from Vijayawada District Jail to Gannavaram Government Hospital for a routine medical examination before being moved to the police station for formal questioning.
These legal proceedings come amid growing scrutiny over alleged corruption and misuse of authority linked to land and mining irregularities. As the cases unfold, all eyes remain on the outcomes that could have wider political ramifications for the YSRCP in the region.
