Hyderabad: Outrage Erupts Over Reckless Bike Stunts and Fireworks on City Roads
A recent surge in dangerous motorcycle stunts and illegal racing in Hyderabad has provoked widespread condemnation after videos emerged showing a group of bikers recklessly riding their motorcycles while setting off fireworks. These alarming incidents reportedly took place in HITECH City, drawing the ire of citizens and officials alike.
Officials Express Dismay
Sajjanar, managing director of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), took to social media platform X to voice his concerns, stating, “What is this absurdity on Diwali? Where is society headed? Diwali is a day of spiritual significance as well as celebration. How reasonable is it to make a mockery of it with such inappropriate behaviour?” His remarks reflect a growing frustration with the increasing prevalence of dangerous stunts that pose significant risks to public safety.
Public Outcry and Calls for Action
Following the circulation of the video showing the reckless antics, many netizens expressed their shock and disapproval, calling for swift action against those involved. Social media users have urged police officials to implement stricter measures to combat such dangerous behavior on the city’s roads, highlighting the urgent need for a response to maintain public safety.
Rising Incidents of Reckless Driving
The recent bike stunts are not isolated incidents. Earlier this month, a video featuring an auto-rickshaw performing reckless stunts also caught public attention. Shared on YouTube by user ‘Raju Auto Driver’ and later reposted on Instagram by Arib Khan, the footage showed the auto-rickshaw driver executing dangerous maneuvers that jeopardized the safety of pedestrians and other motorists.
In another troubling incident, footage surfaced of a group of young men performing similar reckless bike stunts on busy roads beneath the PVNR Expressway in Rajendra Nagar. One of the individuals was seen executing dangerous tricks while a friend filmed the entire act, further amplifying concerns about the reckless culture that appears to be taking root in the city.
A Call for Responsible Celebrations
As Hyderabad continues to grapple with rising incidents of dangerous driving and public safety violations, the recent events serve as a stark reminder of the need for responsible behavior, particularly during festive times like Diwali. The public and officials alike are urging a collective effort to ensure that celebrations do not come at the cost of safety and well-being on the roads.
