Kajal Aggarwal recently garnered attention for her lead role in “Satyabhama,” while Chandini Chowdary and Payal Rajput made notable appearances as police officers in “Yevam” and “Rakshana,” respectively.
However, when the people of Telugu cinema think of a female police officer, regardless of their generation, one name invariably comes to mind: Vijayashanti. The veteran actress is renowned for her memorable portrayals as a police officer in films such as “Karthavyam” (1990), “Police Lockup” (1993), “Shatruvu” (1991), and “Sambhavi IPS” (2002). Her commanding performances have earned her the title of “Lady Superstar,” owing to a series of critically acclaimed films where she held pivotal roles.
After a hiatus of over two decades, Vijayashanti is set to return to the silver screen in the role of a police officer in NKR 21.
