Thalapathy Vijay, one of Tamil Nadu’s most celebrated stars, commands a massive following second only to the legendary Rajinikanth. As he prepares to formally step into politics, Vijay is currently working on what is expected to be his final film before that transition — Jana Nayagan (The People’s Leader).
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan features Pooja Hegde and Mamitha Baiju in the lead female roles. The film is being produced by Venkat K. Narayana, Jagadish Palaniswami, and Lohith NK under the banner of KVN Productions. Shooting is progressing at a rapid pace, with the team leaving no stone unturned.

The bold and dynamic visuals have since gone viral, creating strong buzz around the project.
Music for the film is being composed by Anirudh Ravichander, adding to the anticipation.
Since its announcement, Jana Nayagan has faced rumors of being a remake of the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, starring Balakrishna. However, the filmmakers have repeatedly clarified that this is an original story with no connection to previous films. The film is officially slated for a grand theatrical release as a Sankranti treat on January 9, 2026.
