New Delhi: WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is reportedly in the process of developing several new features aimed at enhancing the user chat experience within the application.
According to information from WABetaInfo, some of the features currently in development include reactions from media viewers, hidden community group chats, managing chat storage filters, and account restrictions.
The ‘reactions from media viewer’ feature is designed to enable users to quickly react to media content without leaving the media viewer screen, streamlining the reaction process for added convenience. This feature is currently available to select beta testers.
In addition, the ‘hidden community group chats’ feature, still in development, allows users to designate community group chats as hidden by utilizing a dedicated icon adjacent to the group name.
Another feature outlined in the report, ‘manage chat storage filters,’ empowers users to filter their chat list within the storage management section, facilitating easier device storage management. This feature is also accessible to select beta testers and will gradually roll out to more users in the coming days.
The ‘account restriction’ feature is set to restrict user accounts from sending messages. Consequently, when an account is restricted from WhatsApp, users will be unable to initiate new chats for a specified duration, serving as a temporary penalty for specific violations. This feature, currently under development, is expected to be included in a future update of the application.
