Modi Addresses Indian Diaspora, Highlights India’s Global Role and Aspirations
Uniondale: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a vibrant gathering of the Indian diaspora on Sunday, emphasizing India’s rising influence on the global stage and its role as a catalyst for positive change. Speaking at the event titled “Modi & US: Progress Together,” he articulated his vision of India’s evolving position in a rapidly changing world.
“The India of today is emerging as a catalytic agent,” Modi declared, highlighting that the impact of this transformation will resonate across various sectors. Reflecting on his earlier statement that “this is not the era of war,” he noted the global understanding of its significance.
Modi asserted, “Whenever there is a crisis in the world, India has come forward as a first responder,” positioning the nation as a proactive participant in global affairs. He clarified that India does not seek dominance but aims to contribute to the prosperity of the world, emphasizing its commitment to global peace.
The event saw approximately 15,000 attendees, showcasing the rich diversity of Indian culture through colorful clothing and traditional attire. Modi painted a picture of India as a burgeoning technology and economic superpower, reinterpreting the acronym for Artificial Intelligence: “A is for aspirational, I for India – Aspirational India.” He noted that the aspirations of millions of Indians drive the nation’s growth, likening achievements to “fertilizer and water” for new aspirations.
In a nod to India-U.S. relations, he also redefined AI as representing the collaborative spirit between America and India, asserting that this partnership would elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
Moreover, Modi announced plans for India to open two new consulates in the United States, one in Boston and another in Los Angeles, in response to community suggestions. This move signals India’s commitment to strengthening its diplomatic presence in the U.S.
Concluding his address, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic turnout and ended with the rallying cry, “Bharat Mata ki Jai,” reflecting his deep connection with the audience and the shared aspirations of the Indian community abroad.
