YS Sharmila Slams BJP for Insulting Dr. Ambedkar, Demands Apology from Amit Shah
AP PCC Chief YS Sharmila launched a sharp critique against the BJP, accusing the party of disrespecting Dr. BR Ambedkar, a revered figure for Dalits, Tribals, Backward Classes, and Minorities. She took strong exception to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent remarks, which she believed reflected the BJP’s arrogance and disregard for marginalized communities.
Sharmila claimed that Shah’s comments deeply hurt the sentiments of Dalits and Tribals, and she criticized the BJP for attempting to undermine Ambedkar’s legacy. She further accused the BJP, in alliance with the Sangh Parivar, of conspiring to repeal the Indian Constitution — crafted by Ambedkar — and replace it with the Manusmriti, which she argued the BJP ideologically supports.
The Congress leader expressed her anguish over the BJP’s consistent attacks on the Constitution, alleging that the party’s actions and rhetoric stemmed from its belief in Manusmriti’s principles. Sharmila also pointed out that the BJP’s disrespect towards Ambedkar was evident not only on public platforms but also in Parliament.
In a bold statement, she demanded that Amit Shah withdraw his remarks and offer a public apology to the nation. Sharmila emphasized that the AP Congress, following directives from the All India Congress Committee (AICC), would hold protests across Andhra Pradesh to express their discontent and demand accountability from the BJP.
