YSR Congress Party leader and notorious rowdy‑sheeter Borugadda Anil has been placed under a 14‑day judicial remand by the Sixth Additional Court Magistrate in Guntur, reviving a long‑dormant case from 2016.
Eight‑Year‑Old Case Resurfaces
The remand relates to a May 9, 2016 incident in which Anil allegedly threatened Mandal Surveyor Mallikarjuna Rao to coerce the issuance of a land‑related certificate. Despite the surveyor’s formal complaint and a subsequent police FIR, Anil failed to appear for any of the scheduled court hearings over the past eight years, prompting the court to issue a non‑bailable warrant.
Transported from Anantapur Jail
On Tuesday, while serving time in Anantapur Central Jail on an unrelated charge, Anil was brought to Guntur under a prisoner‑transit (PT) warrant. After hearing the prosecution’s arguments on his prolonged absence and the gravity of the allegations, the court ordered his remand through June 3.
Next Steps
Following the remand order, law enforcement officials transferred Borugadda Anil to Rajahmundry Central Jail. Investigators are expected to question him further on the 2016 threats and any other outstanding cases, as his legal entanglements continue to mount.
