Assam Conducts Massive Government Recruitment Exam with Over 11 Lakh Applicants
Guwahati: On Sunday, Assam hosted a major government recruitment examination with over 11 lakh candidates participating across more than 2,300 centers statewide. This class III level examination was conducted smoothly, with no reported issues.
A senior official confirmed that 11,23,204 candidates applied for the posts, and the arrangements were well-organized to ensure a hassle-free process for all participants.
To ensure the integrity of the exam, the state government implemented several measures, including suspending internet services for over three hours to prevent cheating and misuse of online platforms. A notification issued on Sunday detailed that mobile internet, Wi-Fi, and mobile data were temporarily disabled from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on September 15, 2024, to curb the spread of false information and the sale of fake question papers.
The notification also highlighted concerns about the potential for organized groups to exploit the situation using social media to disrupt the exam process. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had previously announced the recruitment of 1 lakh new government employees, with plans to add another 50,000 positions.
