Dahi Handi is a major cultural event that involves filling an earthen pot with curd and other dairy products, which is then broken by forming a human pyramid. This tradition symbolizes Lord Krishna’s playful nature and his love for butter and curd. Celebrated on Janmashtami, the festival marks the birth of Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, and is observed with prayers, decorated swings, music, dance performances, and Dahi Handi competitions.
The festival, based on the Hindu lunar calendar, typically falls in August or September in the Western calendar.
