Vijay Unveils Flag for Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, Pledges Commitment to Equality
Chennai: On Thursday, renowned Tamil film actor-turned-politician Vijay officially unveiled the flag of his political party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), at its headquarters in Panaiyur. The flag features a distinctive design with maroon on the top and bottom, and yellow in the center, prominently displaying a motif of two fighting tuskers flanking a Vaagai flower.
The flag unveiling marks a significant milestone for TVK, which is preparing to make its debut in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape with the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections. Although Vijay had announced the formation of his party in February, TVK chose not to participate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections or endorse any candidates.
During the flag unveiling ceremony, Vijay, alongside his party workers, took a solemn pledge. “We will always appreciate the fighters who sacrificed their lives for our country and the soldiers who tirelessly defended the rights of our people from Tamil soil,” the pledge stated. The party also committed to addressing issues of caste, religion, gender, and place of birth, emphasizing its dedication to fostering equal opportunities and rights for all.
