Amit Shah Predicts MVA Defeat in Maharashtra, Draws Parallel with Congress Loss in Haryana
Sangli, Maharashtra: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday launched a scathing attack on the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, predicting its defeat in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Speaking at an election rally in Shirala, Sangli district, Shah drew a parallel with the Congress’ loss in Haryana, claiming that MVA will meet the same fate.
Shah remarked that MVA leaders, particularly Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar of NCP, were more focused on dynastic politics than on the development of Maharashtra. He criticized Uddhav for aspiring to make his son, Aaditya Thackeray, the chief minister and Sharad Pawar for pushing his daughter, Supriya Sule, for the post. Shah also highlighted infighting within the Congress, where several leaders were reportedly eyeing the CM’s chair.
“If MVA comes to power in Maharashtra by mistake, Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray wants to make his son the chief minister, Pawar saheb wants the post for his daughter, and there are a dozen leaders in Congress already preparing to take over the CM position,” Shah said, drawing laughter from the crowd.
Shah, in his address, urged voters in Shirala and Islampur to support the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, which includes Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction and Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction, for the development of the region. He claimed that only the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde, would bring progress to the state. Shah asserted that the BJP-led government would fulfill its promises, unlike the opposition, whose promises were mere rhetoric.
“The development of this region can only happen under the leadership of Modi Ji, Fadnavis, and Shinde. Whatever promises Modi Ji makes, they are fulfilled. But the promises made by Congress leaders are never fulfilled,” Shah added.
Taking a jibe at the MVA alliance’s defeat in the recent Haryana elections, Shah said, “The MVA thought they would win in Haryana and purchased crackers worth crores of rupees. But when the BJP won, those crackers were distributed among our workers. Just like in Haryana, the MVA will be wiped out in Maharashtra, and BJP will form the next government.”
Amit Shah’s comments came just days ahead of the crucial Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled for November 20. The BJP is campaigning aggressively across the state, positioning itself as the party of development, while targeting the MVA for its alleged lack of governance and infighting.
