On December 25, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, a part of his ongoing efforts to address crucial state matters with central government officials. This meeting, which was confirmed by the Ministry of Home Affairs on social media, comes after a series of high-level discussions aimed at securing more support for the state.
Earlier in the day, Naidu had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss various key issues, with a particular focus on the state’s development and infrastructure projects. The meeting with the Prime Minister, which lasted over an hour, highlighted the Chief Minister’s request for prioritizing Andhra Pradesh in the upcoming Union Budget. Naidu also briefed Modi about the progress in ongoing development projects, including the Polavaram irrigation project, a major national initiative.
Accompanying Naidu during his Delhi visit were key TDP leaders, including Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu and Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani. The delegation discussed state-specific concerns with Union ministers, including a meeting with Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to address pending railway projects in Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu’s visit to Delhi also included a meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, where further discussions on financial assistance and state-specific issues were expected. The Chief Minister, who leads the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a key ally of the BJP-led NDA government, also participated in an NDA leaders’ meeting at the residence of BJP President J.P. Nadda.
Beginning his day with tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Atal Samadhi, Naidu paid his respects alongside Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, and other top BJP leaders, marking the centenary of Vajpayee’s birth. He also expressed his tribute on social media, acknowledging Vajpayee’s lasting impact on the country.
Naidu’s visit underscores his continued efforts to strengthen his party’s influence at the national level and secure vital resources and support for Andhra Pradesh.
