The first major cabinet meeting in Andhra Pradesh, chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, took place today, marking a significant step in the reformative agenda of the new administration. Several high-priority issues were discussed, resulting in six major decisions.
The first approved file, presented by Nara Lokesh, pertains to the recruitment of 16,347 positions through the Mega DSC initiative. The second decision involves the repeal of the Land Titling Act, initially enacted by the previous YCP government.
A crucial decision was made regarding pensions, with the cabinet approving an increase in the monthly pension for eligible recipients from Rs 3000 to Rs 4000. In July, pensioners will receive Rs 7000, as per Naidu’s pre-election promise to provide arrears of Rs 1000 per month from April to July.
The fourth approval concerns the reinstatement of the Anna Canteen service across Andhra Pradesh. This mid-day meal program will be fully operational within 100 days. Additionally, a unique skill census will be conducted to identify the talents of unemployed youth and provide relevant training.
Lastly, the cabinet approved the renaming of YSR University in Vijayawada back to NTR University.
