AP Education Minister Nara Lokesh has issued a bold directive to revamp the state’s school infrastructure within a year. During a review session with senior officials at his Undavalli residence, Lokesh emphasized the urgency of completing all Phase-2 and Phase-3 projects that were stalled by the previous administration, in addition to new undertakings.
Addressing the quality of mid-day meals in government schools, Lokesh urged officials to study and potentially adopt the sanitation policies implemented by the Delhi government and other states. He also requested a thorough analysis of the migration of students from government to private schools over the past five years, seeking insights into the causes and a detailed report on general dropout rates. Additionally, he called for an account of school closures, their reasons, and an evaluation of the best library models in the country to prepare a comprehensive review.
Lokesh insisted that the distribution of student kits be completed by the end of this month and that textbooks and notebooks be provided to students in government inter colleges by July 15. Expressing dissatisfaction with the previous government’s failure to supply necessary educational materials, he demanded details on bicycles procured by the TDP government but left undistributed by the Vaikapa administration. Furthermore, he assured that future teacher transfers would be conducted transparently.
The minister’s ambitious plan aims to significantly improve the educational infrastructure and resources available to students across Andhra Pradesh.
