BJP Alleges Kejriwal’s Involvement in Maliwal Case Amidst CCTV Footage Disappearance
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asserted on Wednesday that the reported disappearance of CCTV footage linked to the Swati Maliwal case from the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence, coupled with the arrest of Bibhav Kumar, implicates Arvind Kejriwal’s direct involvement and efforts to shield his aide.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi launched a fresh offensive against Kejriwal on the ongoing controversy. They alleged that Kejriwal had exerted pressure on AAP MP Maliwal for a compromise.
Dismissing AAP’s accusation that BJP orchestrated the incident, Sawant informed reporters that Maliwal, a longtime associate of Kejriwal, had herself filed a police complaint against Kumar for allegedly assaulting her at the Chief Minister’s residence.
Campaigning in the national capital, Sawant criticized Kejriwal’s silence on the matter, suggesting it spoke volumes, and labeled AAP as “anti-Delhi, anti-women.”
Trivedi criticized Kejriwal’s administration for failing to ensure CCTV coverage at the Chief Minister’s residence, despite promises of extensive citywide surveillance. He also referenced Delhi High Court’s remarks on former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s alleged involvement in an excise case, highlighting concerns over misuse of power and breach of trust.
Trivedi accused AAP of neglecting efforts to secure bail for Sisodia while actively aiding Kejriwal’s associate Kumar, who is currently in five-day police custody over the alleged assault on Maliwal at the Delhi CM’s residence last week.
