Burra Venkatesham Appointed Chairman of Telangana Public Service Commission
Senior IAS officer Burra Venkatesham has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC). The appointment was officially approved by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Saturday. Venkatesham’s appointment follows the completion of the tenure of the current Chairman, M. Mahender Reddy, who is set to retire on December 3. As a result, the Telangana government recently issued a notification seeking applications for the position.
The government received 45 applications, including those from retired IAS officers and professors from various universities. After careful consideration, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy selected Burra Venkatesham for the prestigious role, and the recommendation was subsequently sent to the Governor for approval.
Born on April 10, 1968, in Jangaon district, Telangana, Burra Venkatesham is a 1995-batch IAS officer. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has held several significant positions, including Secretary to the Governor, Principal Secretary of the Education Department, and Secretary of the BC Welfare Department. His career trajectory has been marked by leadership and dedication, with his journey from Sarvail Gurukula School in the erstwhile Nalgonda district to becoming a senior government official often highlighted by CM Revanth Reddy.
Venkatesham’s appointment to the TGPSC marks a significant step in his public service career, as he takes on the responsibility of overseeing the recruitment processes for the state’s civil services, ensuring that Telangana’s governance continues to be driven by merit and efficiency.
