Chandrababu Naidu Announces Foundation Ceremony for Amaravati Revival, Highlights Key Development Projects
Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh: In a significant step toward revitalizing Andhra Pradesh’s capital city, the foundation ceremony for the revival of Amaravati has been scheduled for May 2. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the city to lay the foundation stone for development works worth ₹49,040 crore.
During a teleconference with TDP Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, senior leaders, and grassroots party workers, Naidu urged members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to ensure large-scale participation in the event.
In addition to the capital city’s revival, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several other key projects with a cumulative value of ₹57,962 crore. These projects will involve collaboration with the DRDO, DPIIT, NHAI, and Railways. Naidu emphasized that these initiatives mark a decisive step in rebuilding Andhra Pradesh after the challenges faced under the previous administration.
Naidu reflected on the state’s rapid development, crediting the strong coordination between the central and state governments. He noted that within just ten months, the state had launched several development and welfare programs. The completion of the Polavaram Project by 2027, the establishment of TCS in Visakhapatnam, the progress of the Bhogapuram International Airport, and a ₹5,000 crore investment by LG Corporation in Sri City were all highlighted as key achievements under the current administration.
Naidu reiterated his commitment to the vision of Swarna Andhra Vision 2047, which is focused on inclusive regional development. He took a strong stance against the previous government, criticizing their handling of Amaravati, particularly the controversial three-capital proposal. He stressed that the development of the capital would be carried out with support from international organizations such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, ensuring that the aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh were met.
Further emphasizing his vision for Amaravati, Naidu said, “Every citizen of Andhra Pradesh should be able to proudly say ‘Our Amaravati,’ just like people in other states speak with pride about their capitals.” The revenue generated from the development of the capital will be directed toward further welfare programs for the people, he added.
In a bid to support party workers, Naidu reaffirmed their crucial role in the party’s success. He also mentioned the ongoing process of appointing individuals to nominated positions and announced the launch of two new welfare schemes—Annadata and Thalliki Vandhanam—set to launch next month.
Naidu also expressed his sorrow over the tragic incident at Simhachalam, where a compound wall collapse during the Chandanotsavam festival led to the death of seven devotees. While he refrained from visiting the site to avoid disrupting the flow of devotees, he assured the victims’ families of the government’s full support. Ministers have already visited the site, offered condolences, and vowed to assist the affected families in every possible way. Naidu confirmed that he had canceled other engagements to personally monitor the situation.
With a series of major development projects and the revival of Amaravati, Naidu’s government continues to focus on economic growth and welfare programs aimed at improving the lives of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
