Chandrababu Naidu Attends NDA Meeting in Delhi, Pays Tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu traveled to Delhi on Tuesday to participate in a crucial meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) top leaders, scheduled for Wednesday. Naidu, the head of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a key ally in the BJP-led NDA government, is attending the meeting at BJP President J.P. Nadda’s residence.
The meeting, set to take place in the context of significant political developments, holds particular importance as it coincides with the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Naidu will pay tributes at Atal Samadhi on Wednesday morning, honoring the legacy of the late Prime Minister.
In addition to the NDA gathering, Naidu is expected to have separate discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. These talks are anticipated to focus on state-specific issues, with Naidu likely addressing concerns pertinent to Andhra Pradesh.
The NDA meeting comes at a time of heightened political tension, particularly following remarks made by Amit Shah regarding Bharat Ratna B. R. Ambedkar. Opposition parties have strongly criticized Shah’s comments, labeling them derogatory and calling for his resignation. The NDA leaders are likely to strategize on countering this opposition attack and securing political unity among alliance members.
The gathering will also explore better coordination among the NDA allies and discuss joint strategies on major legislative matters, such as the “One Nation, One Election” proposal and the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024. Both bills are currently under consideration by the Joint Parliamentary Panel.
As the NDA moves forward with these discussions, the presence of leaders like Naidu and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is expected to send a strong message to opposition parties, particularly the Congress and its allies.
