Chandrababu Naidu Emphasizes the Importance of Family and Community Celebrations During Sankranti
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu recently emphasized the significance of celebrating festivals with family and community, especially during Sankranti, a festival that holds cultural and traditional value for the Telugu people. Addressing the importance of connecting with loved ones, Naidu revealed that he visits his native village, Naravaripalle, every Sankranti to honor this tradition.
Speaking at a public gathering, Naidu stressed the importance of strengthening human connections, especially during festivals. He remarked, “During festivals, it is essential to go to our hometown, spend time with loved ones, and celebrate together,” adding that making such visits a habit could help preserve human relationships, which he believed were becoming weaker in today’s fast-paced world.
Reflecting on how the practice began, Chandrababu credited his wife, Bhuvaneshwari, for initiating this tradition about 25 years ago. He noted, “It was Bhuvaneshwari who insisted on starting this practice. Since then, we have been following it without fail.” This long-standing tradition has become a hallmark of their Sankranti celebrations, with the family coming together in their ancestral village each year.
In his Sankranti greetings, Naidu extended his best wishes to the people of Andhra Pradesh and the Telugu community worldwide, hoping that the festival would bring new joy, prosperity, and happiness to every household.
Furthermore, Chandrababu emphasized the importance of nurturing human relationships in an era where personal connections were weakening. He urged everyone to come together during such festivals, share joys and sorrows, and strengthen their personal bonds. Naidu also reminded the people that it is their collective responsibility to ensure the less fortunate are also included in the festivities. “We have a duty to support the poor and help them stand on their feet,” he stated.
In line with his vision to promote village development and social welfare, the Chief Minister also announced the upcoming release of a concept paper titled ‘P4,’ which focuses on strengthening village communities. The concept paper is expected to be released the following day, and discussions will take place at various levels before its implementation, marking a new initiative aimed at uplifting rural areas and fostering community well-being.
