Chandrababu Naidu Announces Maternity Leave Policy Change for Women Employees in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has made a landmark decision to grant paid maternity leave to women employees in the state, irrespective of the number of children they have. This new policy marks a significant departure from the previous restriction, which limited maternity leave to those with two or fewer children.
Speaking at an International Women’s Day event in Markapur, Naidu highlighted the importance of maintaining a balanced population and urged the youth to actively participate in the nation’s development. He also encouraged families to have more children, citing the declining birth rates in Western countries as a concern.
Additionally, Naidu emphasized the state government’s efforts to promote childbirth and child-rearing while aligning with broader national goals. The Chief Minister also mentioned that the previous restriction, which prevented individuals with more than two children from contesting local body elections, had already been lifted.
This progressive shift in policy reflects the government’s commitment to empowering women in the workplace, ensuring they have the necessary support for maternity without facing discrimination based on the number of children they have.
