Cyclone ‘Fengal’ Hits Puducherry Coast, Heavy Rainfall Expected in Southern States
The cyclonic storm ‘Fengal’ formed in the southwest Bay of Bengal and made landfall near Puducherry between 10:30 PM and 11:30 PM on Saturday, as reported by Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Managing Director, Ronanki Kurmanath. Moving in a west-southwest direction, the storm is gradually weakening. However, its influence is expected to continue bringing heavy rainfall to isolated regions of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on Sunday.
In light of the storm’s impact, residents in low-lying areas of affected regions have been advised to remain cautious. As of now, several areas in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh have already been experiencing significant rainfall due to the cyclone. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged the public to stay alert for further updates.
